Artun Saday, a master’s student in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, earned a gold and a silver medal in the blue belt division at the Grappling Industries BJJ tournament held in Georgia on April 5. Ömer Meriç Erdem, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student, also stood out by winning a bronze medal in the white belt division.
Both athletes train at Mellivora BJJ Academy Bilkent with the support of their instructor, Eyüp Alp Ermiş, who has been coaching at the academy and teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at the Physical Education and Sports Center for the past two years.
Coach Ermiş shared his pride in his students’ achievements, stating, “These accomplishments are the result of our hard work and reflect Bilkent University’s dedication to supporting sports.”
The team aims to continue representing Bilkent University and Mellivora with distinction in future national and international competitions.
