GE100 Orientation Program Welcomes New Bilkenters

New Bilkenters were introduced to the campus and university life through the GE100 Orientation course, held this year from September 8 to 11.

Throughout the four-day program, students collected points to earn course credit by attending a variety of seminars, cultural events, department introductions and sports activities. The aim of the GE100 course is to help incoming students get acquainted with Bilkent’s academic environment, facilities and student life.

Students explored the campus, including dormitories, classrooms, laboratories, studios, sports centers and other key facilities. The Bilkent Library hosted informative sessions to introduce its resources and services. As part of the program, this year’s “First Lecture” was delivered by Dr. Deniz Ertaş (EE/PHYS ’90), who shared his experiences, his academic journey from Bilkent to MIT and his career path, offering inspiration and insight to the newest members of the Bilkent community.

In addition to academic sessions, students had the chance to visit student clubs and societies’ booths in the Spring Fest area and take part in the Bilkent Sports Day activities held at various indoor and outdoor sports venues. Evening events included a Classical Music Lecture Concert at ODEON, the Radio Bilkent Open-Air Party and an outdoor movie night, providing new students with opportunities to connect and
unwind after a full day of orientation.

The GE100 Orientation course continues to offer a meaningful and engaging introduction to Bilkent University, helping new students feel at home and ready to begin their academic journey.
