The 2025 European Universities Rugby 7s Championship, part of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) calendar, took place in Ankara from July 21 to 24. Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University (METU) hosted the event, bringing together 18 university teams from seven different countries, including Türkiye, to compete for the European title. A total of 11 men’s teams and seven women’s teams participated, with each aiming to showcase their skills and vie for the championship.
The first round of matches was held at METU’s sports facilities on July 21–22, while the second round, including the finals, took place at Bilkent University from July 23–24. Rugby 7s, known for its fast pace and physical demands, highlighted individual strength and team coordination. In addition to the competitive nature of the event, the tournament also promoted values such as fair play, cultural exchange and unity among the teams.
The awards ceremony took place on July 24 at Bilkent University Stadium. In the women’s category, the University of Bordeaux (France) claimed first place, while San Jorge University (Spain) won the men’s competition. The event not only celebrated athletic achievement but also provided an opportunity for cultural exchange and the strengthening of international bonds.
