Prof. Hitay Özbay of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was elected as principal member of the Türkiye Science Academy—Bilim Akademisi at the academy’s general assembly in November 2025.
Bilim Akademisi aims to promote and advance scientific research and knowledge, focusing on the values of scientific merit, freedom and integrity. The academy is composed of scholars, researchers and scientists who have made significant contributions to their respective fields. Bilim Akademisi currently has 235 principal members. With Prof. Özbay’s election, the number of principal members from Bilkent University has reached 15.
