Bilkent University is launching a Science Café event series. The first event will take place on Saturday, February 21, at 2 p.m., featuring a talk by Prof. Tayfun Özçelik, chair of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, titled “Fostering a Culture of Creativity in Science.” The event will be held at the Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center, Çankaya Municipality. The talk will explore how creativity fuels scientific discovery and will offer an engaging forum for direct dialogue between scientists and the public.
Under the leadership of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Science Café events are being organized across Türkiye by university communication offices to bring science beyond university campuses and into public spaces. These events aim to ensure that scientific knowledge is not confined to academic circles and to provide accessible settings where scientists can share their work with the broader community.
Science Café events seek to bring together a wide audience interested in science, including students, academics and members of the public. Everybody is welcome to attend.
