On February 27th, students from the Master of Conference Interpreting program participated in a special virtual session organized by the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Commission. Over 200 students from 28 universities joined the virtual session and practiced note-taking skills with professional interpreters. Note taking is an essential part of conference interpreter training.
The master’s program, run under the Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences and executed by the Centre of Excellence under the Department of Translation and Interpretation, is one of two master’s programs in Turkey that specializes in conference interpreter training. It observes the training principles and standards of EU institutions — the biggest interpreter employer in the world — and the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC).
