Dr. Efe Alpay has had his work “Call for Life” selected as one of the 15 works to be exhibited at the Bang & Olufsen flagship store in Soho Manhattan. It was selected from more than 500 applications to the call B&O opened in collaboration with an exclusive NFT market, SuperRare.
Call for Life is a work of art created by transforming a collective sonic memory into digital-physical objects using computational design methods. The work was produced using audio data recorded during a rescue operation in Hatay Samandağ following the February 6th Kahramanmaraş earthquake. The project focuses on making memories tangible and permanent. The works, which Dr. Alpay calls Mnemonic Data Sculptures, enable memories to gain a physical presence by combining memories with digital designs.
his sculpture was produced as a digital-physical object and offered for sale as an NFT to contribute to emergency relief activities. Over 60 editions have been sold and 100% of them are donated to the relief efforts.
