Gürkan Ensari (MAN’01) was appointed Managing Director, Head of Loan Syndicate, Europe at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). In this senior leadership role, reporting directly to the Global Head of Loan Syndicate, he is responsible for managing the underwriting risk of the bank’s European syndicated loan business and implementing strategies to effectively market and place loan syndications with a diverse range of investors, including both bank and non-bank entities. Standard Chartered employs approximately 85,000 people across 53 markets globally.
Ensari has been with Standard Chartered since 2007. He spent 14 years at the London branch before being transferred to Frankfurt in 2021 as Head of Loan Sales & Distribution in Europe, where he also carries out his new role and manages teams in both cities. Last year, he was a senior member of the team at SCB that won GlobalCapital’s Best Arranger of Green and ESG-Linked Loans award for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. This recognition highlighted leadership and innovation in sustainable finance while promoting environmentally responsible lending practices.
Ensari holds a master’s degree in finance from London School of Economics and an MBA from Purdue University. Before joining Standard Chartered, he worked for Citi in İstanbul for two years.
