The 30th International Adana Altın Koza Film Festival, organized by Adana Metropolitan Municipality, will be held September 18–24.
Akşamüstü Rüyası,” directed by Mustafa Mert Yağcı, and “Apartman Boşluğu,” directed by Can Baran, produced within the Department of Communication and Design 4th-year Visual Communication Project capstone course, were selected for the national short film competition at the film festival as student short films in the fiction category.
Akşamüstü Rüyası is a psychological drama about a young, failed artist who must choose between reality and dreams. When Deniz gets a job interview offer from an engineering company, he evaluates his options, dreams and realities on the subway journey to the interview. Deniz is a 24-year-old engineering graduate with an honors degree. In his fantasy, he decides to become a director, but his family is against it, thus tainting their relationship. Deniz produces his film against all odds but becomes broke, counting on festival prizes to pay his dues. His film is rejected by every festival. He continues to dream of directing films but slowly realizes his talent is in engineering. Moving back and forth between dreams and memories, he will decide what to do with his future at Söğütözü station.
Apartman Boşluğu is the story of the janitor Serkan, who experiences different lives by sneaking into residents’ houses. When Serkan is in the house of Yücel, an old and lonely man, Serkan finds diapositive photographs and audio recordings. The recordings, which attract Serkan’s attention, lead to the exploration of a strange bond between the two. Serkan’s imitation of Yücel leads to an accident that will affect both of their destinies.
