Asst. Prof. Nilay Özer, who completed her master’s and doctoral studies in the Department of Turkish Literature and now teaches at Yeditepe University, has received the Oğuz Tansel Poetry Award for her book “Yüzü Kelebeklerle Örtülü.”
The jury based its decision on Dr. Özer’s success in reconstructing the fragmented and scattered nature of human existence through an original world of imagery. Her work was recognized for moving poetry beyond a distanced form of text-making into what the jury called an “archaeology of the self ” that traces fragilities and hidden lives.
Mert Tutucu received special mention for the avant-garde collection “Apokrif İnciler,” which blends the language of history, politics and the street in a distinctive poetic style to address questions of identity, otherness and subalternity
