Bilkent alumnus Assoc. Prof. Kamil Boratay Alıcı has been elected a full member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, in recognition of his contributions to optics and photonics research.
Founded at Cornell University in 1886, Sigma Xi is one of the world’s most prestigious research honor societies, whose membership is granted by nomination only on the basis of distinguished achievements in scientific research.
Dr. Alıcı works at the Systems Engineering Directorate at ASELSAN. He received his BSc and PhD degrees from the Department of Physics in 2004 and 2010, respectively. He then worked as a research associate at NANOTAM, the University of Arkansas, and UT Austin. Before joining ASELSAN, he served as a chief scientist at TÜBİTAK UZAY. He also received a TÜBA-GEBİP award in 2020.
