What were your first impressions about Türkiye?

My first impression of Türkiye was how beautiful the nature is. I moved to İstanbul during high school from Dubai, where we didn’t see much greenery or nature, so it immediately stood out to me.

What do you like best about Bilkent and Türkiye?

I love how authentic Türkiye feels. You get to meet people from so many different backgrounds, each with unique stories. It really opened my eyes to new experiences and perspectives.

Are there any similarities between Türkiye and your home country?

I’d say the hospitality is very similar to Saudi Arabia, and many words in the languages overlap. The hustle and bustle of İstanbul also remind me a lot of my home in China.

What will you miss most about Bilkent/Türkiye?

I’ll definitely miss the friends I’ve made in high school and university. The people and memories are what make this experience truly special.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

My favorite place on campus is Bilka Hill. It’s quiet and peaceful at night.

What’s your favorite Turkish food and why?

Desti Kebab is one of my favorites. I love the moment when they crack open the pottery to reveal the tender, flavorful meat inside. It’s one of the most delicious and unique dishes I’ve tried.

Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

Retired.

What’s one thing you learned from Turkish culture?

I’ve learned how kind and hospitable people in Türkiye are. For example, my neighbor cooks for me every other week purely out of the kindness of her heart.

What places have you visited in Türkiye, and which one is your favorite?

I’ve visited İstanbul, İzmir, Bodrum, Cappadocia, Bolu and Fethiye. My favorite is Bodrum—it’s calm and peaceful in the spring, without the crowds, and has such a relaxing atmosphere.

What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Türkiye?

People often tell me I don’t look Saudi Arabian, and they’re surprised when I say I’m half Chinese.

Describe yourself in three words.

Daring, empathetic, (a little) stubborn.

How is the studying experience at Bilkent?

It tests my limits, but it has taught me so many valuable things.
