In İstanbul on April 19, a recent international event at the İstanbul Rahmi M. Koç Museum showcased the groundbreaking work of the “Customized Games and Routes for Cultural Heritage and Arts – CULTURATI” project, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Program. Led by Bilkent University, the project aims to enhance cultural heritage preservation and visitor experiences with a budget of €3.1 million and collaboration from 14 partner organizations across Europe.
Key speakers included Mine Sofuoğlu from Rahmi M. Koç Museum, Eda Gürel from Bilkent University, David Green from Blenheim Palace Heritage Foundation, Angela Loporchio from Meridaunia, Prof. Juan Miguel Gomez from University Carlos III de Madrid and Harun Kaya, Deputy Governor of Ankara. These presenters explored the project’s objectives, practical implementations and governmental perspectives on cultural heritage preservation.
The AI component of CULTURATI, led by Prof. Altay Güvenir from Bilkent University, Prof. Juan Miguel Gomez and Metin Tekkalmaz from IOTIQ, aims to revolutionize cultural heritage access, preservation and experience through innovative technologies.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Cultural Attaché David M. Naves from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Aslı Ersoy from the US Consulate General İstanbul and Ali Ayvazoğlu, Ankara Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, alongside academics and specialists committed to advancing cultural heritage preservation.
